Introduced to music at a young age, Michael Whalen has studied piano, drums and guitar for more than a decade. He became interested in studying music professionally, though, after hearing John Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme” in 2012.
After high school, Michael was honored to win a much coveted scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston where he continued his piano and drum studies with the likes of Kenny Werner and Harold Mabern. He also had the opportunity to study vibraphone under Ed Saindon, one of the greatest virtuosos on vibes and a master technician. Michael graduated from Berklee with his degree in Performance in the Fall of 2016.
